The next stage of NCC 2022 changes including the liveable housing provisions, 7 star home energy efficiency requirements, and condensation mitigation take effect on May 1 2024.
The aim of the liveable housing provisions is to ensure Australian housing is adaptable to the changing needs of its occupants. This will assist a range of needs including an aging population, those with a disability, pram access and short term injuries such as people with crutches.
The aim of 7 star energy efficiency ratings are to improve the thermal performance of homes and the homeowner’s ability to maintain its temperature.
The aim of condensation mitigation is to improve airflow within the home and minimise the risk of mould developing.
These changes will benefit current and future home occupants by making housing more accessible, comfortable to live in, and more cost effective to heat and cool.
The National Construction Code is Australia’s primary set of technical design and construction provisions for buildings. As a performance-based code, it sets the minimum required level for the safety, health, amenity, accessibility, and sustainability of certain buildings. The Australian Building Codes Board, on behalf of the Australian Government and each State and Territory government, produces and maintains the National Construction Code.
Our prices will be increasing on May 1 to accommodate the new minimum requirements.
